Overheard on the playground this morning:
American Boy: In my school at home, we had milk brought into our classroom.
Irish Boy: Yeah, right.
AB: No, we did. And when it was raining, we played dodgeball in the gym.
IB: Dodgeball, like the film?
AB: Yeah.
IB: You got to throw balls at each other?
AB: Yeah. Sometimes we got to play boys against girls.
IB: You got to throw the balls at the girls and they didn’t even call your Mammy on you?
AB: Yup.
IB: Now you’re just talking shite.

Hi Beth! I am doing a blog too, about to move to England to be with my fiance (although to be fair I always thought I would marry someone from Ireland!). I can’t wait to read about your experiences!
Awww, that is too cute for words!

Thanks girls! So glad we’ve all found each other!
I love this! I just found your blog on mybloglog, so I’m starting from the beginning. We were in Ireland for 2 weeks last summer with our 3 sons, all of whom got milk in their 1st grade classrooms and played dodgeball against girls in 1st-6th grade. They loved this story. I’m looking forward to reading more.
After reading my comment, I have a correction. I didn’t find your blog on mybloglog, but from a link on another blog, expattraveler, that is on mybloglog. It gets so tangled!
