2007 Goal Update

Well it’s been two months, so I feel that it’s an appropriate time to use my *subject to change clause on my 2007 goals. To refresh everyone’s memory, the goals were:
1. Read Middlemarch.2. Write 26 great query letters - hopefully followed by 26 great articles!3. Swim a straight two miles, with no breaks, once a [...]

Buy A Miracle Tree

Today I opened the morning Metro and was greeted by a picture of Diarmuid Gavin and three little schoolgirls (two of whom are hidden entirely behind a tree branch), asking me if I’ve “ever wanted to help the people in the Horn of Africa to build sustainable livelihoods but didn’t know how?”
I almost couldn’t contain [...]

Take A Guess Tuesday

Little kids amuse me to no end. Well, actually that’s a lie. As long as I have a time limit with them, say anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, they are hilarious little monsters. After 3 hours they’re pretty much just monsters and I always give them back to their parents [...]

Great Attitude

I was buying milk at approximately 12:35pm and when the cashier asked me how I was doing I smiled, said I was fine, and asked how he was.

He’s A Keeper

My husband is awesome. I woke up this morning feeling achey and off. When I told him of this oh-so-rare development, he smiled and said “I know. That’s why you have a massage booked for this afternoon.”
Superstar!

TGIF

It’s been a long week. I for one am glad to see the end of it. Especially when you can welcome the weekend with adult lemonade, American-style cookies and Orla Kiely designed chocolates! Someone might have to roll me back out of the house again on Monday morning…

Today I was introduced to someone who thought I was newly arrived in Ireland and didn’t realize that not only have I been living here for a good portion of my life, but that I’m an Irish citizen as well. When he found out my whole story, he rather cavalierly started questioning me.
“Sooo, five [...]

Take A Guess Tuesday

It’s Pancake Tuesday here in Eire and the country is going mad, mad I tell you. This country LOVES Pancake Tuesday. As in, all day long you have to hear people talk about pancakes. How many they will eat. Favorite toppings. Possible mix-ins. Silver dollar or crepe. Appropriate side dishes. It’s pancake pandemonium!
On this, our [...]
