Great weekend here in Eire!
I started mine early on Friday when I met Liz for lunch. We laughed, we bitched, no one cried. It was pretty much perfect. Then I wandered home via the newsagent and spent the afternoon reading magazines. Larry and I got a take away, watched Jonathan Ross and that was that.
On Saturday the weather was gorgeous so I thoroughly enjoyed meandering over to the Abbey to see An Ideal Husband with Martha. The play was fantastic – I can’t remember how many times I laughed out loud – and even though one of the leads got sick the understudies did a remarkable job. I left longing for a smart suit with a bustle, and possibly a very fashionable bonnet.
When I arrived home Larry was off to Ashford Castle to play a round of golf for a good cause. Even with a recently broken arm he had a good time and I spent Sunday running a few errands, doing some laundry and making some chowder. Some delicious chowder, might I add, full of prawns, scallops and squid. I was in top form.
Throughout these days I’ve also been sleeping amazingly well with few interruptions. I think it may be down to my new routine. I’ve been getting up at incrementally earlier times to see if that helps me get to sleep at a more decent hour. This morning I tried for 7:30 but I hit snooze until more like 8:15. When I finally did get up I saw that it was bright, sunny and cool outside. My absolutely favourite fall weather.
Now I’ve finished my work for the day, have a bowl of chowder and a slice of apple crumble for lunch and an afternoon to devote to whatever I want. Life is pretty good.
Ooh, think smart suits with bustles will come back in? I could pass on the bonnet, but perhaps add a rabbit muff for the cooler weather.
You’ve made me very hungry for chowder… darn it!!
Remind me again why you left working in the library?
