Beth, you don’t seem as excited about autumn this year. What’s going on? I thought October was your favourite month?
It is, Question Asker, it is. But I was actually trying not to harp on it again this year since I’ve done quite a lot of that in the past. Lucky for you, though, I’ve got some [...]

Better Late Than Never

Late post today because I have been out for hours running around the city. Had some errands to attend to, followed by a looooong lunch with Liz, followed by a few more errands.
Sadly it’s not nearly as exciting a story as it would have been if I’d been kidnapped by aliens, but what can you [...]
Belgian Chocolates

And now, the closest thing to porn that you’ll find on these pages. Gratuitous pictures of Belgian choccies.
Halloween scenes at Corne Port Royal.
Autumnal scenes at Elisabeth.
Yes, that’s right, a chocolatier called Elisabeth. Perfect.
But I still had the most fun at Godiva with their chocolate-covered strawberry cones.
Weekend Review II

On to Day Two of Brussels.
Saturday was lovely and sunny so we decided to wander around for the morning. Eventually my knees were hurting too much and we had to stop. Thankfully there seem to be more cafes than people in Brussels so we just picked the nearest one. It happened to be in direct [...]
Weekend Review

As advertised, we spent the weekend in Brussels and had a fantastic time. I haven’t been feeling well so we didn’t do as much wandering as we might normally do, but it was a great trip nonetheless.
Early Friday morning our bag was packed and we were ready to go.
Upon arrival, Laurence took over as my [...]

Absolutely nothing new going on around here today but work and the very good chance of a break for The Ellen DeGeneres Show this afternoon. That’s right, Ellen is FINALLY here in Ireland and I think I might become her most devoted fan.
But I won’t blather on about nothing. Instead, I want to congratulate Mummy Mania [...]

Your result for The Classic Dames Test …
Rosalind Russell
You scored 19% grit, 38% wit, 33% flair, and 24% class!
You are one wise-cracking lady, always quick with a clever remark and easily able to keep up with the quips and puns that come along with the nutty situations you find yourself in. You’re usually able to [...]
The World’s Gone Mad
Posted in Uncategorized on October 7, 2008 | 6 Comments »
Last night (or maybe it was the night before), the news here included coverage of Saturday Night Live’s mockery of the US Presidential election.
Seriously. That was a prime time news item. That a comedy show includes sketches of politicians.
Much as I love Tina Fey, I believe the world has gone mad.
Weekend Review

What a weekend it has been. Sadly, not one that I want to repeat in the near future.
It started out well, with hot croissants and a lazy reading of the newspaper on Saturday morning. Then it was off to the Gaiety to see Vanessa Redgrave in The Year of Magical Thinking. It was amazing. I’ve [...]
Question of the Week
Posted in Uncategorized on October 3, 2008 | 1 Comment »
Sorry this post is a little late – it’s freezing here today and I’m moving pretty slowly. But without further ado, this week’s question.
Beth, I see you are a freelance writer. Do you have any advice, or any advice on books that I could read, about making a career out of freelance writing?
Question Asker, I do. And [...]
