So you know the gorgeous raspberry leather bag that I wanted A LOT? The one that all of you very naughty readers keep telling me to go ahead and buy because it’s gorgeous and I wanted it?
Well, it seems that Fate has intervened!
This morning I received a sale email from a department store I almost never frequent. I have no idea what possessed me to open it – probably the fact that I’d never received an email from them before and was wondering why I was getting one today – and lo and behold it was a special 2 day sale announcement. That’s right, between today and tomorrow it was offering up to 25% off selected items. Intrigued, I clicked through to their website. More intrigued, I entered the bag’s make and model and there it was. ON SALE. 20% off!
I did a few quick currency calculations (it’s a British department store) and found out that ordering the bag from them, even with the astronomical shipping charges to “Southern Ireland”, was still €65 cheaper than the bag would cost me at Brown Thomas. This meant that, drum roll please, the bag would be below my absolute maximum budget!
I texted Larry. I emailed Liz. I sat and thought that the online picture did this bag absolutely no justice (hence the fact that I haven’t posted a link yet). I hemmed and hawed. Could I? Should I? Is this what credit cards are for after all? Is the racing heart an indication of true love? Would I be forever upset if I let this pass me by? Would I be more or less upset to look at the next credit card statement?
I dithered for hours. I went grocery shopping. I rented DVDs. I got started on a new article. But still my mind went back to the beautiful raspberry bag. Every half hour or so I’d bring up the screen with it and the sale price would glare back at me. The morning sped by in a blur of indecision and longing.
Larry came home for lunch. He told me to buy the bag. He ordered me to buy the bag. He begged me to buy the bag. (He didn’t beg me to put him out of his misery, but that was probably coming soon.)
Reader, I bought the bag.
In 3 – 5 business days it will be mine all mine and pictures shall be yours all yours. Now just pray the delivery is smooth and there are no hiccups on the horizon.
I feel better already.
Huzzah! Very well deserved. Let Operation Postmanwatch commence…
HUZZAH! I was actually holding my breath reading the post – and I may have cheated and skipped to the bottom! Yay!
i was HOPING you were going to buy the bag!!!
can’t wait to see this!
I am SO happy for you! Can’t wait to see it!
Totally fate!
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!! If that isn’t Divine Intervention, I don’t know what is.
WOO HOO!!! Glad it made you feel better. Can’t wait to see pictures.
yay! Can’t wait to see pictures!
Hooray! Can’t wait to see the pics.
Sooo glad to hear that you splurged on something you love AND got a great deal! Can’t wait to see pictures and hope you start feeling better.
YAY!!! You totally deserved it!
I’m glad you decided to get it, because if you hadn’t you totally would have regretted it later. It would have been the opposite of “buyer’s remorse” — a “non-buyers remorse”
Ha ha.. no such thing as a coincidence. All the advice you were given to get the bag went off into the ether and the universe conspired with all your friends who shouted ‘buy the bag’. Ha ha.. be careful what you wish for!!!
Look forward to meeting the bag on screen.
Yeah!!!
